1. Who We Are

Lean is a daily intake tracking mobile application (protein, fibre/fiber, and water) developed by Vargas Studio Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Lean app on iPhone and Apple Watch.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Minimal personal data

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. Lean does not require an account or sign-in. We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, or Apple ID for use of the App.

2.2 Local device data (primary)

Almost all Lean data is stored on your device (and, where you use widgets or Apple Watch, in the shared App Group container on your devices). This typically includes:

This data is used only to run Lean for you. We do not upload intake history to Vargas Studio servers.

2.3 Data processed by Apple

When you use Lean, Apple may process data as part of operating iOS, watchOS, App Store, notifications, Siri / App Intents, widgets, and (if you purchase paid features later) In-App Purchases. That processing is governed by Apple’s privacy policies. We do not receive your payment card details.

2.4 Notifications

If you enable notifications, Apple’s notification systems deliver reminders you configure. Lean schedules those locally based on your settings and progress. You can disable notifications in Lean Settings and in iOS Settings.

2.5 Analytics (optional, off by default)

Lean can send anonymous usage events to Firebase Analytics (Google) when you turn on Settings → Data → Anonymous analytics. The toggle defaults to off.

When off: no Analytics events are sent.

When on, events may include which tracker you used (protein / fibre / water), which surface (app, widget, Siri, Watch), theme choice, and similar feature flags. We do not send intake amounts, meal descriptions, or your identity.

Crash reports (Crashlytics), if enabled in a given build, contain technical diagnostics, not your logs.

You can turn analytics off at any time. Collection stops for future events.

3. How We Use Information

Local device data is used solely to:

We do not use your intake data for advertising.

4. Data Sharing

4.1 What we share today

We do not sell your data. We do not share intake logs with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

Data may remain on your device and move between your iPhone, widgets, and Apple Watch via Apple’s App Group and WatchConnectivity mechanisms. That is device-to-device sync under your control, not a Vargas Studio cloud account.

4.2 Third-party analytics (opt-in)

If you enable Anonymous analytics, usage events (not intake amounts) may be processed by Google Firebase Analytics under Google’s privacy policy. Crashlytics, if present in the build, may process crash diagnostics. You can disable this in Settings.

4.3 We do not

5. Your Rights and Controls

5.1 Analytics and local data

5.2 Access and export

We do not operate a user account database of your intake. Data on your device belongs to you. A future export feature, if shipped, would let you copy your own data off-device yourself.

5.3 Communications

Contact lean.support@vargasstudio.com for privacy questions or deletion requests related to any data we might hold outside the device (for example email you send to support).

6. Data Retention

7. Children’s Privacy

Lean is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information via support channels, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

9. Health and nutrition notice

Lean is a convenience tracker for amounts you enter. It is not medical advice, nutritional diagnosis, or a substitute for professional healthcare. Estimates and targets are tools you control.

10. International Users

Lean may be used in many countries. Local data stays on your devices. We are based in the United Kingdom and aim to comply with applicable data protection laws, including the UK GDPR / GDPR where they apply to us.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date at the top. Significant changes may also be noted in the App Store release notes or in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.

13. Legal Basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where these laws apply, we process local app data as necessary to provide the service you request (contract / legitimate interest in operating a local utility). If we later process analytics based on consent or legitimate interest, we will say so clearly and offer controls where required.

You may have rights to access, erasure, restriction, and objection. Because most Lean data never leaves your device, exercising those rights for intake history is typically done by managing or deleting the app on your device. Contact us for help with support correspondence.

14. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident: we do not sell personal information. Lean’s core product stores data on your device. Contact us with questions about any limited information you may have sent us (for example support email).

By using Lean, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
